The Today Show promotion and BBC America documentary that aired on December 10 is a sensationalistic, biased piece of journalism which decries all breeders of pedigree dogs. Sadly, the program specifically focuses on our beautiful breed.

CNE breeders share the goal of breeding the healthiest Cavaliers possible.  They study pedigrees, genetics and health test all breeding animals by veterinary specialists in their respective fields.  They purposely avoid in-breeding, such as father to daughter - mother to son, and avoid any breeding where the offspring may be adversely affected.  They breed closely to the Cavalier breed standard which calls for:
"An active, graceful, well-balanced dog, very gay and free in action, fearless and sporting in character, yet at the same time gentle and affectionate"

All CNE breeders live with some elderly Cavaliers, often well over 12 years of age.  This is the result of many years of carefully selecting long lived parentage.

CNE invites you to attend our Specialty events, a listing of which can be found here on our website.   These events offer low cost health clinics for any Cavalier as well as many other activities for everyone.

CNE recently launched an educational Puppy and Adult Referral website where our member breeders are listed.  We recommend that you read the documents carefully before contacting breeders.  An educated consumer is the Cavalier's best friend.
